Early Childhood Education For Children

Our early childhood education (“ECE”) program has four developmentally appropriate classes for infants, toddlers, two-year olds and preschoolers.  Teachers help children learn how to cooperate with others, solve problems, acquire basic math skills, and use language more effectively each day - strengthening both the child’s home language and English language development.  Based on the most current research, and to best meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse children and their families, our program supports and fosters first and second language development to meet the goal of competency in two languages.

We utilize The Creative Curriculum(1) model which reflects scientifically-based research in: socio-emotional and motor development; interpersonal relationships; oral language development in the language the child knows best; development of phonological awareness; and concepts about print.  At the same time, this curriculum encourages the development of curiosity, confidence, strength and coordination, self-direction, and values.  The Creative Curriculum approach balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, with an emphasis on responding to children's learning styles and building on their strengths and interests.  It provides clear guidance on the teacher's role in addressing content in literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, and social/emotional development.

Mothers’ Club follows the guidelines for Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs developed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).  Staff Development is offered at least once a month, during which teachers receive up-to-date information on child development, strategies for working with young children and parents, and training in administering developmental assessment tools.
