September 14. 2007 - The raising of the roofs! Our preschool climbing structure received their roofs today.
The solar panels are now installed on the south facing wall - what a statement.
September 10, 2007 - The outdoor play area is progressing quickly. Here you see the toddler climbing structure being installed; and below is a close-up of the painting area where leaves have been pressed into the concrete floor.
The large garage doors that allow toddlers and two-year-olds direct access to the playground are now installed.
August 15, 2007 - Pervious concrete is being used in the parking lot to permit storm water to percolate through the soil, filtering pollutants and recharging the water table.
Footings for structures in the outdoor learning center are just about complete, while below, the mural on the south wall of the building has been finished.
July 2007 - Photovoltaic cells mounted on roof.
Block wall complete.
June 2007 - Glass for aluminum store front finishes being put in place at building main entrance and in clerestory.
Replacement of perimeter block wall in progress. Outdoor learning center block walls almost complete.
May 2007 - Interior wall framing completed, insulation in place, and final drywall in progress.
April 14-30, 2007 - Openings on south facing wall leading to the S. Mark Taper Foundation Outdoor Learning Center and parking lot are successfully cut.
Wall framing moves forward quickly. Masonary restoration for brick openings looks fabulous. Curb cut for driveway onto Fair Oaks Avenue has been cut.
April 2-6, 2007 - Framing for mechanical equipment on roof complete. Shoring of the exterior wall is in progress in preparation for opening up the three large doorways to the Outdoor Learning Center.
Interior trenches are filled in and plumbing has been extended to the ceiling. Air-conditioning duct work is being hung. Main water line trench has been dug through parking lot.
March 26, 2007 - Arrival of steel brings in a crane; plumbing trenches filled; and clerestory framing over children's center almost complete.
