Building for the Future:
A Home for Two-Generation Learning
In March 2006, Mothers’ Club became the proud owner of a new, permanent facility located in the heart of Northwest Pasadena: 980 N. Fair Oaks Avenue. The Mothers’ Club Board of Directors, along with the expertise of the staff and other professionals in education, planning and design, have set out to create a facility that will support the significant expansion of programs for families in Pasadena. The new site, which will open in September 2007, will include:
Attaining LEED Certification at the Gold Level from the U.S. Green Building Council as part of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System, a national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
Designing a GREEN Building is in line with many of Mothers’ Club core values:
A GREEN building provides a nontoxic, safe, and natural environment for children, parents and staff.
A GREEN building models environmental responsibility for other organizations, the families we serve, and our community as a whole.
A GREEN building models thoughtful and forward thinking leadership around the environmental well-being of our community and world, and the on-going operations of our organization.
