Primary Responsibilities of the Board
The Board upholds the mission and vision of Mothers’ Club; actively fundraises for its programs and services; serves as an advocate to the community; assists in the development of policies and procedures that govern the organization’s operations; and monitors the finances, programs and performance of the organization.
Skills and Experience We Seek
Fundraising:
Experience in making face-to face solicitations for monetary contributions.
Experience in event planning and securing sponsorships.
Experience in leading fundraising activities for other volunteers.
Ability to plan and work closely with staff and other volunteers.
Leadership:
Experience serving on non-profit Boards, or similar positions of leadership.
Ability to set reasonable, inspiring annual goals for the Board.
Ability to motivate board committees and individuals to carry out assigned work.
Ability to lead meeting discussions in meaningful directions with productive outcomes.
Ability to work closely with executive director.
Financial Analysis:
Ability to understand and advise board president and executive director on the financial status and future financial strategies of the organization.
Ability to explain financial standing to the board.
Experience in non-profit finance and reviewing non-profit audited financial statements.

At an initial meeting, the executive director and a board member will speak with you. If you possess needed abilities and remain interested, the board as a whole will interview you and make a recommendation.
Program Volunteers
Mothers’ Club offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for adults and school-age children. Children at Mothers’ Club are eager to learn, love to be read to, and are excited to play games and work on special projects. While mothers welcome interactions with other adults and benefit from the mentorship of positive role models.

Current Volunteer Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 12:00pm, from September through July (with some exceptions)
Volunteer Opportunities Include
ESL or GED Tutor/Mentor
Looking to build teaching and leadership skills while creating friendships? Volunteer at Mothers' Club as an ESL or GED tutor and help our parents further their education.
Work 1 hour per week and share your knowledge with our energetic adult learners.
Qualifications: Knowledge of the English language, flexibility and a sense of humor. Training is available.
Computer Tutor
Lead a computer literacy class and teach adult learners basic typing, Microsoft Word and Excel skills. This is a wonderful opportunity for a creative teacher to provide a flexible class to eager students.
Work 1 hour per week and share your knowledge with our enthusiastic adult learners.
Qualifications: Knowledge of basic computer skills and flexibility. Training is available.
Teacher's Assistant
Looking to be a kid for a day? Be a teacher's assistant and paint a masterpiece with a child, assist with a cooking project, read a book or help them learn to write their name.
Time commitment is very flexible! Work with the children one time or come back every week. It is up to the volunteer's availability.
Qualifications: Lots of energy and excitement and a love for children.
Personal Enrichment Leader
Share one of you hobbies, interests and/or special talents with the mothers at the center. Through the Personal Enrichment Program, spend an hour or two communicating your specialties such as quilt making, aerobics or even balancing a checkbook.
Available sessions vary throughout the year.
Qualifications: Willing to share a special talent with creative young women.
Photographer
Mothers’ Club uses photos in our newsletters, on our website and throughout the year within our programs. If you are a skilled photographer, we would welcome your services.
Must be available during program hours, flexible throughout the year.
Event Calendar Coordinator
Compile a monthly list of free activities in the area that our families could attend.
This can be done out of your own home subject to your schedule.
Other: Whatever your interests, we’ll try to match them to the best of our abilities.
