A Leader in Family Literacy
In 2002, Mothers’ Club was one of 15 programs in Los Angeles County to receive a three-year grant from First 5 Los Angeles’ Family Literacy Initiative. In addition to significant financial support, this grant provided three years of comprehensive technical assistance in program implementation and evaluation, and staff development. Based on program outcomes, funding was renewed in May 2005 for an additional 5 years.
In September 2005, Mothers’ Club was one of only 3 new programs in California to be selected for a William F. Goodling Even Start Family Literacy Grant, renewable for up to 12 years. And most recently, Mothers’ Club garnered national recognition as one of ten organizations nationwide (selected from an applicant pool of over 550) to receive a 2006 Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy Grant Award.

“Mothers’ Club is like my home where I have access to education to learn more about how to be a good parent. I feel very lucky because I have the opportunity to be educated for a better future, and now I know my dream can be true, so we are a family that shares a dream.” - A Mother
